Wireless Communication, Vol 2, No 7 (2010), Pagination: 159-163Abstract
Telemedicine is one of the rapidly developing fields nowadays. Hence remote monitoring of patients plays a vital role in faster diagnosis and treatment. In this paper we discuss about the development of a wireless ECG transmission and analysis system. Here continuous monitoring of the patient’s ECG signal is carried out with the help of wireless techniques such as ZigBee and Bluetooth. These wireless techiniques enables the doctor to monitor the patient from a remote place. In this paper we discuss about two different wireless techniques namely ZigBee and Bluetooth and compare their performance efficiency. The signal obtained is then amplified and filtered. The analog output from the signal conditioning circuit is converted into digital form by a microcontroller. The digital data is then sent to the wireless module via UART communication. The ECG data obtained in the receiver end is analyzed using LabVIEW. The analysis involves, determining the heart rate of the person and displaying the results.

Power electronic circuits comprising of AC-DC converters and DC-DC converters are Integral part of modern day electric vehicle. Batteries play a major role in a electric vehicle. Thus the selection and implementation of battery charger using DC-DC converter has important role in the development of electric vehicle. In addition to this, the existing battery chargers are without power factor correction which will affect the life and performance of the battery. So this paper presents a charging circuit for batteries used in electric vehicle with the concept of power factor correction. This paper emphasis the necessity for a boost converter for the power factor correction. Half bridge converter topology is implemented for battery charging purpose and it is simulated using MATLAB software with rectifier and boost circuit for verifying the improvement in power factor correction. The power factors and harmonic distortion obtained are presented and analysed in detailed.Keywords

The main objective of this paper is to achieve a feedback enabled multi output boost converter (MOBC) by combining power electronics and process control concepts. A multi output boost converter produces multiple outputs from a single input. It provides two or more output voltages from a single input voltage. The implementation of feedback enabled MOBC comprises of basic MOBC unit, two comparators and a PI Controller. The PI (Proportional-Integral) controller here as such controls MOBC output based on its error input obtained as a result of comparison of MOBC output and setpoint. The use of electronic PI controller contributes to better stability of output and acts as a corrective mechanism to the MOBC.Keywords

Industrial, residential and aerospace environments widely use switching mode power supplies. Switching modepower supplies need to be of small size as well as highly efficient. Hence a high switching frequency is necessary for reducing the size of the converter. But as the switching frequency increases, switching loss will also increase. This will result in gradual decrease in the efficiency of the power supplied. This paper is an attempt to study the application of fuzzy based control for DC-DC converters operating at finite switching frequency. Conventional PI method currently used for buck boost converters is compared with the fuzzy based control. Simulation results are also presented. The simulations show that the fuzzy control method has better dynamic performance.

Internet users have grown in recent years and they demand answers for many through online. Searching and retrieving documents is one of the most frequent thing most of the people do today. For retrieving medical related documents, we have to be extra careful and precise in the process of retrieval. Even though separate search engines are there to retrieve medical documents with care, the users are not well-known with MeSH terms (Medical Subject Heading). MeSH terms are terms used by medical professionals to retrieve documents. So the query has to be framed in such a way that only correct documents should be produced to the user. In this work, we proposed a method that deals with enriching the user query with the use of UMLS. The enriched user query after expansion is used to get accurate documents with less amount of time.Keywords

Bioresorbable polymeric materials are emerging biomaterials to meet the demands in the biomedical field such as tissue engineering, drug delivery and wound healing applications. In this work, we focused on the biodegradable polymers with tunable properties for biomedical application. A polyol based crosslinked polyesters were synthesized by melt polycondensation. Xylitol, Maleic acid and the dicarboxylic acid such as succinic acid/sebacic acid were used for the synthesis of polymers by catalyst free melt polycondensation method. The synthesized polymers were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (13C NMR). The thermal stability of polymers was studied by Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).Keywords

In laboratory, each effort is taken only for identifying the unknown chemicals. All the chemicals are having its own characteristics and structure of molecules such as lines, hexagons and pentagons. The chemical database is used to find the detailed information of that molecule. Even though, the current database does not provide the up to date chemical information. To overcome the above identified problem, this paper introduces the kernel based support vector machine for identifying the chemicals using its structure. The SVM's are becoming more popular algorithm for identification of variety of chemicals in chemical applications. Final result shows the chemical identification and performance analysis of this proposed system.Keywords

Digital image processing is a broad area consists of different concepts to emphasize the quality of the images. The digital image processing has been engaged in various areas such as remote sensing, video processing, image sharpening, colour, pattern recognition, image compression etc. The digital image processing plays an immeasurable role in the field of biomedical. The clarity of the images are important for any types of medical diagnosis leads with human body. In this paper the image of cytomegalovirus is taken and processed to show the improvement of the affected images. Though there are many facilities to identify any type of diagnosis, detection of viruses in terms of images also plays a vital role. The cytomegalovirus affects almost all ages of people, but it shows more impact on pregnant women, if the women gets infected the foetus also gets affected so this leads to congenital infections of the baby such as impair vision, autism, hearing loss, birthmarks etc. Once the person gets affected it retains for lifetime. In this proposed work the input of the image is taken and processed with ROI and MAFE Algorithm with PCA reduction and HSVM is used for classification and Identification of the image is done.Keywords
